Falesco Vitiano Rosso Umbria 2010

This blend of Sangiovese, Cabernet and Merlot (34/33/33) is simply a great value at $10.99. Given some air, the nose shows serious complexity for such a reasonably priced wine – smoke, tar, earth, stinky cheese, herbs and warm spice. On the palate, juicy dark berries blend with a touch of caramel. Though the lingering aftertaste is a touch bitter, the prominent anise note at the finish adds intrigue. Overall, a great balance between fresh, vibrant fruit and savory notes. Drink now.
