Reason no. 37 to be wary of PLCB wine
First, there was sun tea. Now, the Commonwealth introduces UV Vin, the Liquor Control Board’s latest innovation aimed at delivering a superior experience to wine lovers from Allegheny to Ardmore.
Sufferin’ sunbeams, the supposed quality of wines sold on PA soil gives pause, doesn’t it?
These sunburned French wines were on display at the Franklin Mills outlet on the outskirts of Philly. We can only hope the staff rotates the bottles in the rack daily to achieve an even, all-over bronze.
I’ve ragged on this store before, and few could mount a compelling position against privatization once they’ve shopped there, but in the spirit of disclosure I must give credit to a clerk who tried to help me locate a bottle of Lagarde Primeras Vinas Malbec. She searched high and low and offered to track it down at another location.
Thanks to the baseline effort, it wasn’t a wholly unpleasant visit – like a pat on the head after an older sibling inflicts a pink belly. Negatives, however, do linger longer. Clear as daylight.
