A 100% estate-grown winery in Nottingham, Pennsylvania, Wayvine was founded in 2013 by 19-year old Zachary Wilson, whose family has been farming in the area for generations. (He now runs things with his brother James.) The winery has grown rapidly over its first decade, today boasting 20 acres of vines that produce 14 different wines.

Wayvine is known for its dry, low-intervention wines, made with minimal processing. In particular, the winery is a local leader in working with the Carmine grape, which they originally confused with Merlot but came to love in both the vineyard and cellar. This lesser-known hybrid, created in the 1970s by crossing Cabernet Franc and Chambourcin, is particularly suited to the mid-Atlantic climate, particularly in the sense that it can create medium-full bodied, well-structured reds in this cooler region.
